Stepford Wives Halloween Costume

purpose & description

I love the movie, "The Stepford Wives", and I'm going dress up as a Stepford wife for Halloween! If you haven't seen the movie yet, it's about these women who have been turned into remote-controlled robots by their husbands because they wanted to assert their "manliness"...how icky and utterly creepy! They become these perfect wives who do everything that a typical housewife does and more, even though they were once top executives and judges! I'm wearing a pearl necklace (very classic, of course), summery wedges, a pink flowery day dress, a light pink plaid headband, and an apron with apples on it. The key to looking like a Stepford wife is to look like you're part of the nicely tended garden in the back of your house. Oh, and I'm going hand out homemade cupcakes and brownies at school in order to complete my look :].

I'd try a more a-line dress, something from the fourties or fifties. the head band, shoes, and apron are very inspired, but maybe the apron in a different color.... it clashes. so very un-stepford like of you....

Definetly Stepford wives, but no Stepford wife would dare wear a headband that clashes with her dress! But very cool idea.
