purpose & description
Referring to one of my older outfit posts, I bought a negligee-like dress in New York City that I had no idea how to wear and desperately wanted to make it appropriate for school so that my money wouldn't go to waste. Thus, after some experimenting and shopping I've managed to make it a lot more appropriate for school and work. I wore black tights with white BCBGirls patent heels, and layered a maroon J. Crew tank top underneath the dress. Over the dress, I wore a long gold cardigan and a black leather waist belt, both from Calvin Klein. The dress is a lot more appropriate and less negligee-like now!

I love the way you put those clothes together..but I would put the flower away and pin it on a bag or something.

love what you did with this dress to make look less negligee-like ! I wouldn't have been able to come up whit that idea, but I LOVE IT !

the dress is well cute and i think the black ( especially the belt) takes that away from it and makes it a lil frumpy. add some thick coloured tight ( jewel purple/raspberry) and a cute biker-chic jackets over a bright cardi to funk it up a lil. the dress is a great shape so you shouldnt lose that shape it by wearing the belt

I love what you did! I remember commenting on your that older post and did not think to do this. You brought the layers together so well with the black accents and the vest was a fantastic touch to even out the black and white.

I love the layering of this outfit! As a New Yorker, I say that you definitely have tapped NYC style...personally, I would wear black patent pumps or maybe some booties. Great look!

This outfit is risky, it takes a lot of confidence and a fashion forward city (like NYC) to pull this off...but if both of those caveats apply to you, then rock on! I think this outfit is great!

I KNOW YOU WERE GOING FOR A MORE CONSERVATIVE LOOK BUT IT LOOKS AWKWARD.. MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE JUST GONE WITH A LITTLE WHITE BUTTON UP SWEATER WITH THE BUTTONS OPEN AND BLACK SHOES INSTEAD OF WHITE..

Love the color combo! The dress is so stylish and the perfect combination of sexy, but cute alone, and the way you added pieces to make it work appropriate... wonderful!
