purpose & description
Okay, so I got this dress at Necessary Clothing and love the asymmetrical neck and braided strap. It's super easy and I can wear it on a hot day and still stay comfortable. The brooch and matching ring are antiques; I added the brooch because I felt like the dress needed something (and the ring because it's pretty and matched), but I didn't want to clutter the asymmetry with a necklace (ignore the one I'm wearing in the pic -- that's not supposed to be there). The only thing is that I don't really like those shoes with it -- I don't have a wide selection of shoes or outfits right now bc I'm presently living out of a suitcase, but what do you guys think? I want to keep it flats because I'd be walking around all day, but open-toe or no?

I think the dress is nice, but not with flats...you definitely need some heels with this outfit.

That dress looks great. I think heels would look better with that dress. Maybe a jeweled sandal or a strappy sandal.

The dress is cute, and a great LBD! However, to keep cool in the heat, steer clear of black all together! No matter how skimpy or light the fabric is, you WILL be suffering in stuffy, NYC weather for sure. Instead, wear this LBD on a date or dancing with a pair of jewel tone peep toe pumps. Nine West has a great pair of cerulean blue pumps for only $69...what a great deal! :)

The brooch was a great idea to spice up a simple dress. If you do that, a necklace will take away its attention. I think something with a touch of color or even a bit sparkle would work better. I also don't think you need heels with this dress. Not high heels at least. They have a peep toe with a two-inch wedge at a number of stores. That height won't hurt your back from standing all day.

I think you need a belt with this, maybe one that sling on your hips? Or a big accessory somewhere, a big chunky bracelet?

You need heels with a dress like that. The flats make you look shapeless and your legs stumpy.
