I love British style and the fact that we (well, some of us) aren't afraid to be unique. I love going to London and seeing all the different styles of people. My favourite shop is Topshop, my favourite designers are Luella and Chanel and i love the styles of Alexa Chung, Edie Sedgwick and the Olsen twins. My favourite models are Agyness Deyn, Lily Donaldson and Gemma Ward. I want to be a fashion journalist or stylist :)

purpose & description
I bought this key lime colored dress at the Pasadena Rose Bowl Swap Meet here in Los Angeles. It was listed at $26, but I got it for $5. It's authentic vintage and the tag inside the dress says " Jean Lutece, custom tailored in Hong Kong." I did some research on Lutece, and it turns out he was a very high end designer that designed for Chanel and others. The beads and rhinestones are silver and sea foam green and line the arms and neck of the dress. I love one of a kind pieces like this that have a story behind them. I always wonder who this dress was made for and how did it end up at a swap meet one Sunday afternoon. I paired it with H&M off white heels and some diamond earrings

I have same designer, same fabric with V-neck 2.5" beading on neckline and hemline. I inherited the dress so I beat you on price! Unbelievable this quality of designer and dress isn't clearly recognized. I think too much chest and too little dress but damn, you got it on! I just look at my inherited stock and CRY!!!

it's really quite Dior by John Galliano...the beading and the nod at 40s style. i like.

really cute but REALLY unflattering on you.

That's a great dress. A plain pointed toe heel would have been a better option. Those shoes remind me of Easter Sunday when I was five. Try a brand like Guess, Steve Madden, or aim high. Diors would look great.

Great story, but it would be better for your bust to have a different neckline. Generally V-necks look good and don't usually pull in the wrong places. I love the vintage look of it though.

f.y.i - I didn't seek out this dress because it was made by a famous designer. It was a fact that I discovered well after I had bought it.

I don't think this dress goes with your figure (or most female figures, at that)...also, just because something is made by a famous designer does not mean it will look good on you (general comment).

I think your bust is pushing a little too hard on the dress. When you're buying vintage it's so easy just to buy because obviously there's no other sizes, but you have to buy stuff that fits like a dream, no compromises. It's a very good find though.

I LOVE the history of this dress!!! I think it's great when you can find authentic vintage clothes for a reasonable price. When I first saw the bustline shot I thought hmm...this material is decent. Then I saw the other shots and how it was shiny and I think that gives a real old fashion going to the prom vibe to it. I think the dress is quirky although a little dated. I think the shoes work with the bow cause it matches the cutesy vibe of the dress. The neckline is a little overbearing but for a old vintage dress you can't really be surprised with that cut.

im sorry but i really dont like it. i know its just my opinion, i just think its wayy too dated and i think your boobs dont work for it either. i could really only seeing this maybe working on a more flat chested woman. sorry! i really dont mean to be mean though.

LOVE LOVE LOVE! Its very Kirsten Dunst circa the 2007 oscars ( she wore chanel!) However, on you there is one tiny problem- the bust. I have the same top heavey Issue. To make the dress more flattering you need to go get a REALLY GOOD fitting bra. Investing in a bra that reallly lifts and holds them in (possibly even with a bit of a minimizer) will make this dress look AMAZING! You got the fab dres for 5$! So invest in a great support you can wear again and again to make it look amazing. Try going to Neiman Marcus or Macys and getting a proper fitting. Bring the dress with you to make sure it works. Trust me, it will make all the difference in the world! Congrats on the amazing find! It would also look great with silver pumps ( i love a peeptoe! very old Hollywood just like the dress :)

This dress is gorgeous. However, it is a little dated. Yes, i know, its vintage but i personally dont think its very flattering to you. Fashion should be more than just brands and famous designers. Clothes have to flatter you, accentuate your assets. Unless your intention was to draw more attention to your chest, I suggest not wearing too many clothes with such a high neckline. sorry.

adorable! the shade is gorgeous. however, i suggest shoes with more substance, such as a closed-toe platform. that will look perfect.

I'm not the biggest fan of the neckline but is a beautiful vintage piece. I agree with the previous comment about the shoes. Stay away from white patent unless the shoe is downright stunning.

I LOVE this dress..it has such a great sense of nostalgia but surprisingly it fits perfectly in to modern trends. It being vintage does not take away from the mod feel of the jewelneck, short sleeved shift dresses we are seeing from every major designer; Chloe, Tory Burch, Chanel, to even the fast fashion dynasties of H&M, Topshop, and Zara. I don't know if I would pair white heels with this dress...there is always the fear of cheap looking shoes(and white, at that, will do it to ya). Instead I would love a nice pair of bronze or even taupe peep toes or chunky heel to really let the dress stand on its own; balancing out the beautiful detail, color, and silhouette of the dress.
