purpose & description
I layered a simple white cotton tank top from the Gap with a laced blue tank top from Abercrombie Kids. Yes, Abercrombie isn't known for it's originality or high fashion, but who can resist summer essentials such as tank tops in almost every color? Plus I'm petite, so why not buy their tank tops for only $19.50 instead of buying a C&C one for $50? I'm wearing a pair of Farmer jeans that I picked up for only $50 (originally $250) from a thrift store down in Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, and a chunky colorful necklace from the GO International™ collection from Target. My shoes are just gold satin ballet flats from the Gap that my friend bought me last year (they're really light and comfortable which is much more suitable for summer than my leather flats!), and a white oversized leather tote bag. It's comfortable and convenient for a summer day at the park with my boyfriend or just having lunch with friends, but is there anything I can do about the outfit to spice it up? Not too many layers though, I want to adapt this for summer.

That tank was $19.50?! Next time, try forever 21 or wet seal, you'll get the same thing for $5-$8 max. I'm not a fan of this look because of the accessories. The bag looks like it belongs to a female professional and is too formal to go with a tank top. And the color scheme of the beads do not go AT ALL with the pale spring colors of your outfit. Try matching your accessories with your outfit's color scheme. You'd look great in a pink tank top with a simple necklace and a casual bag.

I agree with write pudding - red flats would pop! Also try a dark bermuda short to switch it up and make it summer freindly.

I love how simple this outfit is! You can never go wrong with layered tank tops and ballet flats. As far as spicing, I would suggest two things: You will stand out more if your jeans are a darker shade, the light blue takes the attention away from your cute blue tank, secondly, I see that your necklace has red in it, why not switch to red ballet flats, the will definitely make you outfit pop!

I loved that necklace from the GO! Collection! It looks really cute on you. If you're looking to make the outfit a little spicier, maybe change out the jeans for a skirt, maybe a cute white tulip skirt? Or you could swap out the top for a flowy red top that sets off the red in the necklace.

Simple but cute. I would trade the jeans for some high waist shorts (Tibi makes a great pair). They'll keep you cool in the summer but the high waist makes it more fun and even dressier. The necklace is really great, but I'd definitely add a chunky cocktail ring or some bangles to spruce things up!

You can trade in the jeans for a lightweight mid-calf skirt, put your hair up, and you're all set for summer!

Very cute style! I think you definitely made the best with simple basics. Now, as far as adopting it for summer, you could roll up the pant and change your shoes to flip flops. Or put a belt around the waist, probably in white to go with the underlying tank. Whatever you do, don't lose the necklace. It's my favorite part!

The necklace is really cool, you could wear read or pink flats or even platforms
