purpose & description
I love this dress... It's a vintage dress I picked up in Mexico last summer- but with my bra straps showing and the see through crochet around my thighs, is it too much for the city?

Get some white boyshirts to wear under, as well as a strapless bra that wont how through the thin fabric. Also, try a big, floppy beige wide brimmed straw hat with this (think Kentucky Derby hat +Mexican dress). But if you wear the hat, make sure you have the confidence to do so, or you'll feel like a fool.

Um no. Do you see the way some of the people dress here. Just get a basic thin white tank from Abercrombie & Fitch to wear underneath. Or just use it as a beach dress if you're so concerned.

too much for the city? you could walk around in a mesh bodysuit over yr underwear and be okay in some neighboorhoods. the dress is kinda cool.

Girl please-- nothing is too much for the city unless you live in a) Anchorage or b) a random town along the Bible belt. I love this dress with a capital L. Throw on some boy shorts (unless you want the world to see your thinly veiled goodies via crochet), a cute clutch and some dangly earrings and go wherever you darn well please-- de las calles de la ciudad a los caminos rurales.

This dress is so great!! I love it. I think it needs some type of slip and strapless bra for the city, but it would be perfect for the beach, a rooftop bar or even a picnic in the Park...it's definitely something you can work with to be appropriate for most occassions.

A slip is a cheap and easy way to fix the crochet problem.. you can also take it to a dress maker and put in a liner.

I'd love to see it with a long necklace or cute studs. Maybe some blue shoes to match. Love vintage! It's awsome for the beach or shopping in the city.

Vintage is awesome. The issues you have with it can be solved easily with a strapless bra and slip. Go for it!
